Our Story

Katekile Escapes is owned by Eric & Lolly Mathieson, their modest disposition is a total contradiction to this luxurious self catering accommodation. The guest houses all offer maximum space and magical views. Modern fittings and plenty storage space in all rooms, including en-suite bathrooms with glossy porcelain.

In 2019 the couple took their savings and bought a beautiful 3 bedroom in Hunters Pride, Dinokeng, less than an hour away from OR Tambo Airport. They were awed by it’s wonder and hoped to recreate their experience for others. The private reserves of Dinokeng offer you an experience of a life time with the big 5 roaming in 22000 HA.

Uitstekende akkommodasie. Baie vriendelike verwelkoming van eienaars. Luukse, baie goed toegeruste huis met verwarmde jacuzzi. Baie diere naby huis te besigtig. Uitstekende wildrit saam met Eric. Sal definitief weer gaan en vriende en familie aanbeveel.

Jou "huis" weg van jou huis. Alles is daar wat jy sal nodig kry. Eric en Lollie is super vriendelik en sal graag help met enige iets. Wys jou persoonlik waar alles in die huis is. Sal definitief aanbeveel (en self weer terugkeer soontoe).

Net wat ons nodig gehad het, 'n heerlike wegbreek saam met vriendinne. Hunters Pride 39 is regtig so lekker plekkie. Ons het dit vreeslik geniet. Die huis en kamers was netjies, alles was daar wat ons nodig gehad het. Dit was so lekker om op die stoep te sit met die rustigheid en natuurlik die voëltjies, sebras en bokkies wat elke nou en dan kom kuier, laat middag/aand om die Boma en ons dames het die Jacuzzi baie geniet. Ons sal verseker weer gaan kuier, was great. Baie dankie vir jou vriendelikheid en professionele diens, Eric.

Pragtige plek en alles wat jy aan kan dink is daar. Ek het so baie van die plek gehou dat ek self 'n erf daar gekoop het. Lieflike stukkie bos en hier kan jy regtig afskakel, 'n halfuur se ry uit die stad uit. Die owners is awsome en maak seker jy kort niks.

Van A-Z is daar voor voorsiening gemaak in die huis net 'n haardroër ontbreek. Lugversorging in elke vertrek. Speelpark vir die klein kindertjies. Ons sal definitief weer teruggaan en dan ook vir langer as net 'n naweek. Die Pride of Africa Nature Reserve is baie goed geleë. 'n Baie veilige omgewing. Maak seker jy bespreek jou wildrit-uitstappie om die Groot 5 te sien en/of om op 'n selfry te gaan. Wildreservaat se bewaringsfooi is ekstra.

Our family of 6 stayed at 39 Hunters Pride over the weekend of 7 August 2021 and we did not want to leave. The house and all of its amenities were perfect – there wasn’t a dish or a piece of cutlery/crockery that the kitchen did not have, the Jacuzzi was ready upon our arrival, beautifully decorated rooms with comfortable sheets and towels and a view overlooking the patio where zebras were grazing, amazing fire pit and braai area where the family laughed and enjoyed the stars above and the bushbaby jumping in the trees. The host, Eric, was at our beck and call and ensured that we had the best time – he welcomed us at the entrance of Pride of Africa, escorted us to Hunters Pride, and showed us around the house. We can all recommend Hunters Pride as the hospitality and the house were out of this world. We will definitely be booking again in the near future. Maré family.

We had a wonderful stay at 39 Hunters Pride this weekend. The house is large, comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed, with lots of attention to detail and everything you need to make for a great weekend. Good location, with easy access to self-drives in the Dinokeng reserve, but also access to the private Pride of Africa reserve by means of a guided game drive with Eric. Our afternoon game drive with Eric and Lolly was a highlight of the weekend. Not to be missed. Thank you Eric and Lolly, we really hope to be back again soon.

Absolutely fantastic.

From when we arrived till we left, it was amazing. The owner and his wife are fantastic people, they took us out on a private game drive for three and a half hours, this was awesome. When we got home on Sunday evening, they called us to make sure we arrived home safe and to personally thank us for using their lodge.

Hunters Pride bied gesogte en baie netjiese sowel as moderne akkommodasie in Dinokeng vir groter groepe. Dit was ook ‘n plesier om met die eienaars – Eric en Lorraine – te kommunikeer. Hulle het uit hulle pad gegaan om te verseker dat al ons versoeke aan aandag geskenk is en wou ook graag weet hoe alles nog verloop (het) terwyl ons daar was. Ons sal beslis graag weer daar gaan bly.

Alles wat jy nodig het en meer! Die eienaars was vreeslik gasvry en vriendelik. ‘n Wonderlike plek om weg te breek vir jonk en oud! ?’n Stukkie juweel in die bosveld. 5 ster verblyf terwyl jy die bos geniet.

The house is amazing, spacious and so well equipped with everything you could need! The owners are friendly and always willing to answer any and all questions! I would recommend this to everybody I know and we will definitely be visiting again!
